Zopec EXPLORE FAQ
1) I want to use this as an automatic backup when power fails. Can it both be charged from a wall outlet and power the CPAP at the same time?
Answer: All Zopec EXPLORE batteries were designed for medical back-up power. You can have the power bank plugged into a wall outlet and power the CPAP at the same time. The CPAP will run, and the battery will stay 100% charged. The battery has a bypass built-in, so it won’t affect battery life. When plugged into the wall outlet, the CPAP machine draws power from the outlet, bypassing the battery. When a power outage occurs, the CPAP will automatically switch to the power bank.
2) For backup power use, can this stay plugged in and automatically turn on in the event of power failure?
Answer: Yes, all Zopec EXPLORE batteries have AutoSwitch technology built-in. In the event of a power outage, the battery will automatically switch to power bank power without any action needed on your part. You won’t even notice the change. To test it, plug everything in, use your CPAP, and then unplug it from the wall. The power bank will take over seamlessly.
3) I want this for future camping. Is it best to charge and let it sit or should we use it now and keep charging the battery?
Answer: It’s best to let the battery sit until you need it. When you’re ready to use it, charge it overnight to full, and the power bank will reset itself and be ready for use. Lithium-ion batteries can deplete over time due to leakage current, but Zopec batteries, which contain premium Panasonic cells, handle this well. After charging overnight, the battery will reset itself, and the charge indicator will be accurate. If the battery has been sitting unused for a long time, the charge indicator might show 40%-65% when turned on, but a full recharge will reset it to show the correct level. This is only a temporary issue that resolves after a full charge.
4) Can I use this in an RV and just recharge it on the wall?
Answer: Yes! Many customers use Zopec power banks in their RVs. During the day, you can recharge the power bank using the wall outlet in your RV while the generator is on. At night, you can run your CPAP with the power bank. Depending on your CPAP settings and the model of Zopec Explore battery you have, you could get several nights of use from a single charge.
